As you could see, the majority of participants who speak two ormore systems aren't apart of the American school system. Howver the majority of those who are bilingual who attend American Schools have learned their primary language at home and English at school.
I could use this data to infer that the American langauge programs aren't functioning properly; given the fact that there aren't a lot of Americans who learned another langauge at school. One of the participants attends a school that is well to do and located in the suburbs. Money could also be a barrier that American language classes and courses face. Another barrier could be the fact that Americans don't take learning a langauge all too seriously. Given that English is one of the top langauges in the world, there seems to be no need to learn another language.
A suggestion for the American Langugage programs is finding the right funding program in order to provide more language programs and oppurtunities. By providing more oppurtunities students will be able to see the impact langauge has our lives and the benefit of learning langauges. Another suggestion could possibly be taking trips to other countries. It will provide oppurtunities of immersion and learning while having fun.
